Biographical Notes:
Cecil B. DeMille was a writer, director and an actor. His
mother ran a girl's school and his father was a clergyman. He went to the New
York Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Joined forces with Jesse Lasky and Samuel Goldwyn and formed Paramount in
1913. Produced and directed 70 films.
He was a confident man who had an uncanny idea of what the
public would like to watch. When he made films he wanted them to be as real as possible.
With that in mind, he would do almost anything to accomplish that.
His career lasted five decades. He earned a reputation of
a star maker.
